Dublin Kendo Kobukai fundraiser for Japan earthquake relief effort

Dear Kendoka,
I am sure you've all seen the news and images coming in from Japan as they deal with the earthquake, tsunamis and ongoing aftershocks. This disaster directly affects many friends who have trained with us in Dublin Kendo over the years, and the club wants to extend its sincere sympathy and support to all affected.

Thanks to all who came along last Sunday to participate in the sponsored suburi! We completed 5000 suburi cuts in just a little over 2 hours. A special thanks to all the beginners who showed great spirit and willingness! Also thanks to all the members of Muyukan kendo club who participated.

Don't forget that all proceeds from next Sunday's over 35s taikai will also go to the Japan Appeal!

So far we have collected €744.50 and we are still accepting donations which you can make online at Dublin Kendo's MyCharity Page or in cash at training.

All online donations will go to the Ireland Japan Association - Earthquake Appeal charity. You can also use the sponsorship forms form to collect donations from your friends and family. Return your sponsorship forms and cash donations this week and the club will send them to the Japanese Red Cross.

If you would like to make a donation directly to either of these charities please visit the Ireland Japan Association or the Japanese Red Cross for more details.

Let's give something back to the country that gave us Kendo!

Even a small amount can make a difference!
